Part II ~ Southern California

And it's off to Santa Cruz Island on the "Ocean Ranger" -- the National Park Service utility boat serving Channel Islands National Park.

Lunch and Snack log some beach time at Smugglers Cove on Santa Cruz Island.

"Gosh, Lunch. This is sure desolate out here."

The bovine adventurers stop at a high point on Santa Cruz Island overlooking Anacapa Island in the distance.

The cows look down at the jagged coastline overlooking Potato Harbor.

Returning to the mainland, the cows visit La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles.

"The mammoth in the tar pit isn't real, thank goodness. That looks like a terrible way to go!"

Inside the nearby Page Museum, Lunch and Snack get a closer look at some real mammoth bones. The big, big animal stood more than 12 feet tall and weighed more than five tons.

"What are they doing, Snack?"

"It's the famous fish bowl laboratory, Lunch. Museum researchers are cleaning fossils pulled from the tar pits. The museum has millions of fossils cataloged in their storage vaults."

"Wow!"

The cows visit the landmark Pink's Hot Dogs in Hollywood, a place where many famous stars drop in to eat.

"What are hot dogs made of, Lunch?"

"You don't want to know."

Next stop ~ Hollywood Boulevard. Lunch and Snack head for the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

"He was my hero, Snack. He stopped all the cattle rustlers in the Old West."

roy rogers

"Roy Rogers was MY hero, Lunch. He was the best cowboy of all!"

The cows find Roy Rogers and Trigger's prints in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

"Oo la la....she sure looks real."

Lunch and Snack discover Marilyn Monroe (in wax) in front of the Hollywood Wax Museum.
