Lunch and Snack's California adventure ~ August, 2009.Part I ~ Northern California |
Lunch and Snack start their adventure ~~ not in California, but Nevada. Lunch is ready to hit the slots at Montbleu Casino at Stateline at Lake Tahoe. |
The cows get a good look at the lake from a park in South Lake Tahoe. |
Watching trout swim in Taylor Creek was a highlight for Lunch and Snack before they left the Tahoe area. The Stream Profile Chamber on Rainbow Trail lets people and cows peer beneath the water for a fish-eye view. |
After crossing the state, the cows find themselves camping at Point Reyes National Seashore. "Is the coffee ready yet, Lunch?" |
"This historic lighthouse here at Point Reyes was built in 1870, Lunch. Neat, huh?" |
"SNACK! Did you feel something move?" |
The cows sit on top of a post marking the San Andreas Fault, right where the Great 1906 Earthquake split a fence and moved it 20 feet near the town of Olema. |
Next stop: the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, California's oldest surviving amusement park. |
Lunch and Snack take time to enjoy the quiet waters of Monterey Bay Marina. Hundreds of boats make it their homeport at the sound end of the bay. |
A visit to Monterey wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. |
The aquarium's kelp forest is considered one of the premier underwater exhibits in the world. |
Lunch and Snack try to make friends with an exotic fish at the aquarium, but the fish didn't seem to be very interested in making their acquaintance. |
